Review

A book for competitors in any sport who want to get the greatest performance improvement from the precious time they spend training. Although Jackie is an archery expert, the simple formula she has worked on to help her succeed can be applied to any sport. The charts allow sportmen or women to record details of their training to analyse trends that lead to success. The book had excellent reactions from top sports people and from the industry. --Archery World

Jackie has made a significant observation concerning the need to be able to see many days of records at a glance. Her charts would be most helpful to any athlete to notice trends in training. Scores can be deceiving and I like the detail of her program. She has defined in a simple to use fashion a way to quickly see what the performer is really doing beyond just looking at score. I especially like the use of symbols to record levels of performance; stars, plus signs. Great idea. I feel Jackie has made an important advance to competitors by writing this book. Good job. --Lanny Bassam, author of With Winning In Mind

The phrase that stands out in this action packed book - personal excellence is a contest with yourself - sums up its message and value for anyone serious about a competitive sport or pastime. The author packs in nine chapters and an appendix with sample charts. Topics covered include the learning cycle, success factors, compilation of charts and more detailed notes if appropriate. There are useful suggestions for further reading. --Archery World

5.0 out of 5 stars Focus, clarity and systematic methods for achieving success, 24 Sep 2007
By Mary McNeil (Cumbria, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a great book full of really practical ideas about how to reach your goals through a system of analysis, planning and application. Although it focuses on how to achieve success in the sporting world, the concepts and charts could most certainly be adapted to support success in many other areas.

Jackie Wilkinson is an excellent coach and this book is a superb way to access her strong sense of focus, her tremendous clarity and systematic methods for improving performance and achieving success.
