Product Description

Book Description
The book covers the scientific analysis and the psychology and methods associated with the way we solve problems in creative invention. These subjects are presented in a clear, concise and thought-provoking manner.

In particular, the book covers the process known as TRIZ , which is a Russian acronym for The Theory of Inventive Problem Solving. TRIZ is now being taken up by many leading companies worldwide as a means of inventive problem solving.

The book is unique both in the breadth and depth of topics covered. Logical, scientific and TRIZ methods are covered as well as psychological approaches, giving the reader the tools to invent right at the leading edge, even 'beyond TRIZ'. The TAO process is also included, which is an unprecedented innovation process involving a radical parallel method of thinking and innovation.

About the Author
Graham Rawlinson is a Chartered Psychologist and Innovation Consultant who has worked with large blue-chip companies including BAe, ICI, Siemens and Coca-Cola. He is author of a mathematics textbook which has been selling for 23 years and 13 Television Programmes.

David Straker is Business Innovation Consultant and Program Manager for Agilent Technologies. He is the author of four books, including A Toolbook for Quality Improvement and Problem Solving (Prentice Hall) and Problem Solving with Post-it-Notes (Gower).

5.0 out of 5 stars Toolboxes for personal creativity., 8 Oct 2003
By Grant P (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
"How to Invent (Almost) Anything" is a book written for business use which can be used equally well to help identify and resolve personal issues.

For those involved with, or interested in becoming involved with, innovation, creativity and invention this book is a 'must have'. In fact most of us are involved with innovation in some parts of our lives and this book offers insights that can help to find improvements in everything we may wish to improve whether they are devices, processes or relationships.

It is easy to read, simple to understand and yet contains a host of good ideas that can be chosen individually or used in the structured approach method which will appeal to those who like a step by step guide.

Many of the examples are about everyday innovative solutions that can be applied to product or process improvement equally. Best of all you don't need to have any existing expertise to understand the subject matter.

For those more technically minded, there are some serious challenges to your thinking.

Well written, comprehensive, readable with easily accessible content - "How to Invent (Almost) Anything" deserves a wide audience.
