Review

'An engaging eccentric mix of fantasy and reality, enhanced by mystery and suspense . Magical, moving, mischievous, and - literally - marvelous' - School Library Journal 'This moving novel shares the super-hip aesthetic of its predecessors' - Publishers Weekly 'Uniquely fascinating and provocative' - Kirkus Reviews

Product Description

Angel Juan was afraid that nothing was real. He was freaking out. That's why he left. That's why he took that plane to New York. Witch Baby had loved him forever. Even before they were born. But maybe it wasn't love. Maybe they aren't true soul mates after all. And maybe this book is about getting over stuff. But you don't really believe that, do you.? Because this is where the magic's at. Dangerous Angels concludes with: 5. BABY BE-BOP (Jan '03)

5.0 out of 5 stars A FASCINATING EXPERIENCE!, 27 Aug 1998
By A Customer
I have read and loved all of Block's books, but Missing Angel Juan made the most profound impact on me. This isn't like reading a book, it's an expansion and exploration of the imagination. After finishing the book, it played through my head like a movie. Like a dream you thought was real.

5.0 out of 5 stars Block haunts and heals with "Missing Angel Juan", 26 Mar 1998
By A Customer
This was my first exposure to Francesca Lia Block, and it, along with GIRL GODDESS #9, is one of my favorite books. MISSING ANGEL JUAN has a universal-ness and beauty. I was going through a time that I was having to let go of love when I read it, and it helped me to see that it was better to let go. I reccomend this to anyone remotely between the ages of 12 and 112 (yes, that is a bad cliche, but it's true).

2.0 out of 5 stars it lacked of real life., 24 Jun 1998
By A Customer
Missing Angel Juan is a book about two lovers, one looking for the other one. The story revolves around Angel Juan and Witchbaby, but then one dissapears and then the story turns to only Witchbaby. These two characters are musicians who are trying to figure out their future. The setting takes place in the suburbian streets of a down town neiborhood. Somewhere along the story these two lovers got seperated and only one thing will bring them together again. Witchbaby and her roomate Weetzie recieved out of the blue sky a postcard from New York. It was from Angel Juan, Witchbaby who was so deeply in love decided to go to New york and look for him. At New York Witchbaby meets a friend that would be the key part in the story. This individual is already dead and only Witchbaby can see him or talk to him. Witchbaby realzing that New York is a very big place, she starts to go to all the places where Angel Juan and her had shared a feeling or an event. In this book faith, love desperation, dedication and perseverance will once more re-unite these two lovers. I'm not a reader, I do not enjoy reading books, so basically I didn't like the book. It lacked of many requirements for choosing a book. The story is hard to follow, no sense of humor, it bagan very realistic and then it lost it's course. I hated the ending because I didn't expect and because it's lausy. This book has not changed my mind about reading, but it's missing some reality to the plot and ending, for example Witchbaby was able to see and talk to spirits. My comments are based in what I think about this book, now, I'm not a writter and don't want to offend the author.
