5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, 20 Jan 2003
By Cicely Taube (London,England) - See all my reviews
I loved this book. The ideas areare complex and wonderful. Catherine Webb has ceated an entire and very original world along with some very original charachters
My favourites had to be Laenan Kite the not so heroic hero and Lisana the power fixated one. The whole idea of "the Void"
was very interesting and I definately want to read more about it. So is the idea of dreamers affecting the dream reality and having a perfect dream for everyone some where in the void. Nightmare- as the opposite to dream was fascinating and was the way inhabitants of the dream world dreamec of earth when they went to sleep. This book was one of the most thought provoking and funny i have yet read,I am desperate to read the sequel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dear dreamer..this is divine!, 23 Aug 2003
Ah dear dreamer, this is a unique magic pot of shimmering ideas that you simply must take a look at.
You’ll be accompanying the very fabulous Laenan Kite, a very powerful mage, as he wanders through the realms of dreams and nightmares and you will even delve into the ‘void’, a fine creation from Miss. Webb.
This is a strong debut from a writer only slightly younger than myself, I have to admit after hearing of the author’s age I was slightly hesitant as to whether or not to read this but I’m so glad I did.
It’s lathered with rich imagery and strong, well rounded, believable characters, Catherine Webb has produced something quite fantastic here and I can’t wait to get stuck into the sequel.
But should I buy this? I hear you ask, well you most definitely should if you admire fantasy novels and like tales of magic and deceit, dreams and death. It’s a unique mix that is quite challenging but most definitely worth the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dreamily Magical, 10 Jan 2007
By J. Rushbrooke (Gloucestershire) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Magic, mayhem, dreaming and the limitless potential of a dream state. This book is absolutely fantastic. I was sceptical at first and initially hestitant when thrown into a imaginative universe parallel to our own, but this soon gave way to wonder as the author's skillful narrative weaves between worlds. The book follows a highly sardonic Laenan Kite, a legendary mage, who once faught for the Kingdom of Dreams and who has been recalled to face another great adversary. This book has everything a teenager could want - and not just teenagers. I'm a good half a decade clear of my teens and loved every word. I simply couldn't put this book down - and I believe it was probably done with magic. If you're still reading this reveiw, I've failed! Click 'buy now' you won't be disappointed. Promise.
