5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent pictorial tribute, 12 Sep 2002
By A Customer
The book will be of great interest to any fan of Big Cyrille. The text is succinctly written in short punchy paragraphs leaving the content of the book to be chiefly a pictorial account of his days at West Brom and -in then in ever shortening chapters on CCFC,Villa,Wolves and others. With a foreward by Ian Wright we have intimate glimpses and opinions of Cyrille from many people down the years and also of Cyrille on these his colleagues.Maybe a few more quotes from the big man and a longer section on Coventry(he did spend 7 seasons there) might have improved it but any admirer of Cyrille's power ,prescence and style would enjoy this biography standing in their collection. In an era when we hear 'nice guys come last' its always refreshing to be reminded of the 'model professional'. I'm not blinded by rose tinted specs mind-yes-we all remember his lazy games and the ones that got away but as a Coventry fan he was always on the end of an Oggy punt or a flick on for Benno and where else did our goals emerge from in 86/87. I just remember his fearsome pace to blast the first goal in the FA Cup quarter final at Hillsborough...in that yellow and black away kit... thrusting the air with his triumphal finger. Before that moment (and to some people of late) we've become something of a joke team, but for several months in 1987 everybody wanted to be 'sent to Coventry' and most of 'em to watch Cyrille ! It was quite a party mate-all the very best.
