2.0 out of 5 stars Jethro Tull, 24 Aug 2004
By Dave Walsh (Herne Bay, Kent) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a book promising great things for the seasoned Jethro Tull fan but doesn't really come up with the goods as it falls into the author's own opinion far too much rather than explaining source, inspiration and links with each of the Jethro Tull songs. Explanations of every song are included in terms of whether they're fast, slow or their instrumentation. For instance Black Satin Dancer is 'a bit too long' but no information about possible motive for writing the song is given.

The one line 'album trivia' at the end of each recording is welcome as are the few anectdotes scattered throughout the book, but these are in rare supply.

Of course the author's assertions of which albums are the best are sure to be areas of discussion, but 5/5 for A little Light music? An interesting book - quite cheap so probably worth the price of a magazine although paper quality on mine was hardly outstanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars SIMPLY TULLIFYING!, 26 Aug 2004
I bought this book from Amazon just over six months ago. I have now read it cover to cover (four) times! If you want to learn every single detail about the mighty tull then buy this book. Raymond Benson has done justice for Ian Anderson and the tull boys. It realy is captivating... not only does it list every single album and single but the author carefully reviews it giving the certain album / single etc marks out of five... please do yourself a favour and buy this book!
