The recommendations offered by Patricia Fenn never fail to deliver on their promises. These guides have continued to prove execellent value for money. What you pay for the guide is more than made up for in terms of the quality accomodation and food you encounter when taking up the advice. The arrow system (updated to stars in this new edition) points you directly to the cream of the crop.

This edition comes in an improved format with updates on a number of long standing entries. We found the best country hotel ever in a Patricia fenn guide an will always be grateful for this.

I used to be a great fan of Patricia Fenn's French Entree Series in the 80s and 90s when they were updated regularly. I hadn't seen them around for many years so was delighted when I saw this book on Amazon's website as I was about to embark on a trip to the North of France. I was not so pleased, however, on receipt of the book to see that it was published in 2002, seven years out of date. Seven years is a long time in the restaurant/hotel business so the book is of limited use. However, if what you want is a general feel for the area and the various hotels and restaurants, Patricia Fenn's narrative is well-written and incisive. Be prepared, though, that your choice of restaurant or hotel may have changed hands several times since the book was written so you really need to read it alongside a more up to date guide. I also question Amazon's policy in selling such out of date guide books without making this clear in the advertising.
