Blood and Hope sees the 5th Doctor, Peri and audio companion Erimem get involved in the closing stages of the American Civil War. It's a pleasant read, told via diary extracts and letters, but once you get past the presentation it stands revealed as a very traditional historical, and a rather slight story. Reasonable stuff, but there's nothing groundbreaking or original here.
