Product Description

Book Description

The book every martial arts fan has been waiting for, No Holds Barred tells the story of the phenomenal rise of "Ultimate Fighting", the mixed combat competition that has been labelled "the most dangerous sport in the world" and "human cockfighting". Its aim is simple: to find the best fighter, from whatever discipline, on the planet. Journalist Clyde Gentry has conducted more than 80 interviews to piece together the sport's origins in Brazil, its spread around the world, the political battles, vilification and banning orders, and the stories of the sport's stars. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Reading For MMA Fans, 19 Aug 2002
By A Customer
This book contains a wealth of information for a fan of mixed martial arts (MMA). Dozens of fighters and promoters are quoted, in many cases revealing insider information which is unavailable elsewhere (Eg. That the Gracies were planning on replacing Royce with Rickson when the competition in the UFC began to get tougher).

This book is in every way superior to the American edition (better edited, better format, more material), and I would recommend it even for readers who already have that version.
