5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Huge Book, 24 Jan 2003

What a fascinating, easy to use and follow book on gardens. I am a total novice and was so inspired by the simple breakdown of information for plants and design for every type of small garden you could imagine.

5.0 out of 5 stars truly a practical guide, 6 Jun 2005
This book is great for a quick idea for fixing little difficulties often found in small gardens. Particularly valuable read as it is useful for both ittle ideas as radical changes which one may want to undertake in an old tired garden. The photographs are useful as they show detail and in themselves set your creativity going... you know 'Oh! I could do that there...'. Above all this book is full of good advice on design and planning regardless of the size or shape of one's plot so it is easier to apply than other books which are more dictatorial - by this I mean the designs that are divided by garden shape - do this plant the other. The 'practicalities' section at the end of the book treats all these issues so one can pick ut the necessary information relative to a particular part of one's garden and not necessarily the whole garden. Precious also for creating rooms in a medium sized garden therefore.
