5.0 out of 5 stars At last a decent, real book on tuning Rover V8, 10 Dec 2005
By G. J. Earnshaw "kourgath" (On the Cornwall and Devon border, UK) - See all my reviews

Having been into tuning cars for some time, I've always thought that the best of it's kind was by David Vizzard on the A-series. Full details of actual mods and power graphs.

This book is almost there. There are diagrams of port shapes for those of us without a flow bench, there are discussions on the various blocks and heads etc.

I had this book on pre-order for nearly 2 years and I' glad it eventually arrived. I took it with me to a Land Rover club event and had to wrestle it out of everyone elses hands :-)

Don't bother with the Hardcastle books if you realy want to know what to do with the Rover V8, buy this.

3.0 out of 5 stars A curate's egg, 7 Jun 2009
By Derek Smith (Brighton, UK) - See all my reviews

It does what it says on the cover to a limited extent but I ended up wishing that there was more to it. It covers much quite well, especially things like 'porous' blocks and slipped liners, but it was caught between two stools: neither going into loads of detail about specifics nor covering everything that could be done to engines. It also concentrated on one or two company's products, such as Wildcat, and missed a whole lot else out there.

It could have been a fair bit better. 3 stars to me is adequate but, with a bit of thought, it could have got to 4 easily.
