Product Description

Book Description
What do you do when your homeland is invaded by a legion of highly trained and well armed Roman soldiers? Hide under the mattress? Nail planks of wood over the doors and windows? Hope they’ll all go away if you just sit down and have a bit of a pray?

Or do you try to bring down the oppressive new government by a carefully conceived plan of sabotage, deception and outright guerrilla warfare?

No of course you don’t, because they always look under the mattress.

A Little Roman Therapy is an historical comedy set in fourth century Britannia. It is the first of a series of books in this era and tells the story of Senator Vesuvius' obsession for power with the help of his two servants. Along the way he encounters vengeful assassins, modified camel racing and a plot to implicate him in a dastardly murder.

Oh yes, and Herda, Gerda, Sven and Netto, the four Norsemen of the Apocalypse.

From the Author
Howard Tilley was born in 1975 and lives in South Derbyshire. His first interest was in computer programming which began in the mid eighties and culminated in 1995 when he sold his first computer game.

He began writing one day after accidentally discovering his keyboard and now says he wished he'd known about it earlier, really.

A Little Roman Therapy is his first novel and he says he'll finish working on his second just as soon as he can work out why it keeps playing sounds whenever he hits the black and white keys.

5.0 out of 5 stars What the book is like to read, 5 Jun 2002
By A Customer
'A little Roman Therapy' was a delight to read from the first to the last page of the book. I could not help myself from laughing. On the one hand the characters were very colourful and the plot comical and interesting to follow. And on the other hand the book served to give a good and believable account of what life was like back in the past, but does so without sounding like a boring history book.

This book is a must to read for anyone with a good sense of humour and who desires to read a book that will keep them on their toes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very, very funny book that kept me interested to the end., 23 April 2002
By Stephen Westcott (Isle of Man) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I thought that the book was very well written and kept the reader hooked throughout. Aside from it being an exceptionally funny novel, it had a good story and hook to it. Too many comedic books are written for the joke, thus losing the story. This one didn't. The jokes were a part of the story and skillfully interweaved within the account.

For all readers who like good, comedic writing that has a story you can grasp on to and keep with, this is the book for you.

The characters came across as real, as much as they can do given the exagerated nature of them, which left the reader feeling comfortable with them.

All in all, a superb read.

Steve Westcott
