"Head, shoulders and spine ahead of the rest." Adventure Travel

Product Description
Filled with practical information from the authors' own experiences of living in Ecuador, this guide covers the whole of Ecuador, both on and off "the banana pancake trail" including Quito, the jungle, the Pacific coast, the national parks and volcanoes. As well as introducing Ecuadorian culture, it includes details of accommodation for all budgets, where to eat, drink and chill out, and where to go for adventure travel - climbing, trekking, river rafting and kayaking. It also features up-to-date information on the Galapagos, including how to get there, scuba dive sites and an eight page colour section on the wildlife of the islands.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, down-to-earth, up to date information., 19 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This book is excellent for both the budget traveller and the those who wish to travel in a bit more style. If, like me, you want to plan your own trip the book is full of contact information which is bang up to date and accurate. The section on the Galapagos is particularly detailed with descriptions of all the islands and the wildlife you can find there. I found the section about the various tour operators particularly useful and accurate. My only critism is that there are no quick references for the highlights for each area as there are in other books so you do have to read through the text, although highlighted words help you to home in. The maps could be a bit more detailed and there could be more maps included in the text for each area. Overall this is a very useful book.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST ECUADOR GUIDEBOOK PERIOD!!!!, 26 Jul 2003
By Jack Kaplan (Roswell, Georgia) - See all my reviews
I have traveled to Ecuador over 15 times and have used all the guidebooks.. FOOTPRINT is the best. ALthough less color pictures than some of the others but all the information, up to date facts, maps, phone numbers, etc. I am an independent travel consultant I checked out many of the restaurants and hotels and find it to be very accurate.. The other French, German, Italian and Dutch that I have traveled with also agreed with me the best book on the market.. You will be extremely pleased.
