5.0 out of 5 stars Great Companion!, 28 Mar 2003
By A Customer
The South American handbook is all the a traveller to this magnificent continent can ask for. Very common with travellers here in South America, the handbook gives specific details about each city, town, sight, restaurants, hotels and hostels. It has many many tips that are essential and is written wonderfully. Since I have started travelling in South America I have used the guide almost everyday. It is very precise and I found all of the recommendations to be true. Wonderful. If you are going to South America, don't hesitate, get this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable travel guide book, 14 Aug 2003
By A Customer
I used this book everyday during my 2 months travel in South America. The writers wrote with personal experience and gave out useful tips relevant to each place (e.g. avoid eating at a particular bus terminal, avoid certain area at night). The writing format is concise and easy to read with updated information. Short introduction of each country gives you idea where the important places you should visit. It is a guidebook for people of various budget range. Many travellers who had Lonely Planet guidebook with them borrowed my Footprint and claimed that Footprint is much better. Highly recommended!
