The straightforward presentation, combined with the absence of colour and visuals, doesn't make this the most stimulating of books to browse. Nevertheless it's packed with information with over 100 health Web sites reviewed, each assessed for information, updating, navigation, readability, content and speed.
Usefully divided into subject matter, the nine chapters include general medical sites, complementary medicine, men's health, women's health, and special diets. Web sites within each chapter are alphabetically listed, which is certainly logical, but frustrating if all you are after is the best sites. Turning to the index at the back of the book at least helps you narrow down the most relevant sites, and skipping to the final paragraph provides the overview one needs. This is likely to appeal to the older reader who is getting to grips with the net and needs reassuring advice, rather than young people for whom surfing and searching is part of the fun. --Lorna V.
