Book Description
The Baby Shapes Book and Mobile Set has been developed by The Children's Project and supports principles established in The Social Baby. There is continued debate as to whether or not new babies are able to distinguish colour, but it is agreed that they are drawn to high contrast images. These simple books are specially developed to interest a baby and they respond to these books from birth. Baby Shapes one and two, use very simple (through to more complex) bold graphic shapes. Baby Shapes three consists of a range of faces and facial expressions. New babies may copy some of the expressions. Baby Shapes four develops the graphics theme, introducing simple everyday objects such as a cat and a dog. The books bring the parents and their new baby together in a shared visual experience, nurturing the important beginnings of reading and turning the pages of a book. The mobile is unusual as it presents exciting visual images that can be viewed (importantly) by the baby when lying down as well as an adult.

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant!, 16 Nov 2005
I bought this for my nephew - unfortunately it was put away in a box and forgotten about! A year later, my week old baby loves it!! She is now almost 7 weeks old and we can now tell what shapes she likes and dislikes! It's great to provoke and recognise a reaction in such a young baby - it has strenghtened the bond as we can play and read together. Well worthwhile!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, a fantastic buy, 14 Dec 2006
I buy this for all my friends with new babies, it's so much fun seeing how much tiny babies are taking in and learning even in the first few weeks and months. I thoroughly recommend this.
