Product Description

Synopsis

Matty Holland epitomises the spirit of Ipswich Town Football Club. Since his arrival from AFC Bournemouth in July 1997 (after starting his career at West Ham) Matt has never missed a game for the Tractor Boys, a remarkable feat in modern football for an outfield player. The fans love him for it. His promotion to Club Captain in 1999 has coincided with the roller-coaster ride of success the club has enjoyed since then. This personal diary covers this monumental period in Ipswich Town's history: their play-off victory at Wembley, their stylish return to the Premiership, and now a UEFA Cup campaign. It also accounts for the Republic of Ireland matches during that period and Holland's elevation to the Captaincy of his country.

5.0 out of 5 stars simply outstanding, 28 Dec 2001
i am interested in football and after viewing the exploits of ipswich town last season was interested in reading about it, where better to hear about the experiance then the captain of the team. i was a bit hesitante to buy this book because i thought it would be a player saying how good his team is, that couldnt be more wrong. after reading the book i feel i have joined in the experiance of gaining a place in europe with a football team.

coming from a team expected to go staright back down after gaining promotion but winning a european spot why would anyone not want to hear about this experiance?

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantstic book !!, 31 Aug 2003
By A Customer
I'm a town fan and brought this book cause I had wanted a memory of what was a great season we had. I have my memories of all of the games but it was interesting to have the insight of what Matt Holland thought. The book brings his views about each game, his highlights, how he thought he played and the over all excitement that took over Portman Rd. If you are a town fan the book reminds you of all the excitement that season brought. It's a great book to look back on! But also an interesting read to any Football fan.
