Product Description

Product Description

The In Pinn and walkscotland.com have joined forces to present 100 family walks in Scotland. These have been chosen in all areas of the country and for all abilities. Each walk has a unique URL, printed in the book, which allows readers to link directly to route cards and walk details on the website. Following an introduction from Colin Haygarth, the walkscotland.com founder, the book continues with sections on hill safety, kit and gear for all weathers, and stalking information. Handy telephone numbers are also detailed. Each walk is presented on a regional basis with a fact file which includes: distance - in miles and kilometres; maps - Ordnance Survey and, where available, which Harvey maps are required for the route; start/parking - showing the start-point for the walk, plus OS grid reference; grading - with a brief resume of the terrain, detailing tracks and paths, whether there is a fair bit of ascent, whether sections are steep; and additional information including details on livestock and whether it is necessary for dogs to be kept leashed.
