Product Description

Product Description

These adventures of Big Aggie MacDonald, the caustic, wisecracking Glasgow tramcar clippie, should take readers back to the golden age of the tram. The seven short stories are interspersed with one-liners and jokes attributed to Aggie, and illustrations from cartoonist, Besley.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a lift to your spirit!, 2 Aug 2005
By Ian Gross (Wrexham, Clwyd United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
What a book! it's the first book I've read in ages that actually made me laugh out loud and I had to stop reading it in the park during my lunch hour as I'm sure the local people thought I was mad!! It brought back a lot of happy childhood memories and more so as my family knew a 'clippie' like this on the local trams - happy days. If you're from Glasghow or the surrounding areas you will love this book. Happy reading.

2.0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTED., 7 Feb 2009

A very thin book full of clippets but nothing new for a Glaswegian. Maybe an ex-pat would enjoy it more.

2.0 out of 5 stars "Yer Borin Right", 4 Sep 2009

There is nothing new here,if you understand Glaswegian there is nothing new here that we have not watched being "murdered" from the one o clock gang of the fifties to Andy Gray on Sky Sports,Alex Salmon on anything. Ive cringed with this nostalgia for ages now, this is for your granny to be read to her on her deathbed.

This book really cheered me up. I was laughing out loud at some of the stories. I remember the trams in Glasgow when I was a child, and used to enjoy our trips on the Glasgow... Read more
