Book Description
Blackburn Rovers Football Club has a distinctive place in the history of Association Football. As one of the giants of the game in the early years of the Football League, they were one of the dominant names of English football.
In the immediate years after the Second World War, they languished outside the top division, becoming something of a sleeping giant. Having narrowly missed promotion to the top division over many years in the 1980's, their fortunes changed with the arrival of Jack Walker. The sleeping giant was woken out of its slumbers, promotion to the Premier League was achieved in 1992 and Blackburn Rovers were one of the few clubs to break the stranglehold of Manchester United in the Premiership in the 1990's.
In The Blue and Whites Dean Hayes continues his concise post-war histories of North West football clubs, with Blackburn Rovers as his subject matter. The book has three elements. Firstly, a written history of the club from 1945 to the present day. Secondly, 50 profiles of Blackburn Rovers' most famous post-war players. And, thirdly, a complete statistical guide to every player that has appeared for the club in the Football League since 1945. The text is accompanied by 50 photographs.
