Product Description

Award-winning Sunday Times healch writer, Hazel Courteney, gives an A-Z guide to alternative treatments for over 300 common conditions. It includes numerous, simple but little known solutions to many problems plus a host of rational, proven hints and ideas to improve your health on a day-to-day basis, for example: * Eating garlic and onion improves circulation and maintains healthy cholesterol levels * The simplest way to improve energy levels is to take a course of ginseng for 30-60 days. * Chick peas and other pulses help regulate hormone levels and are particularly beneficial for PMS and menopausal symptoms. Easy to use, this book is like having your own doctor at hand, with help and advice on both women's and men's health issues, diabetes, cancer, ageing, arthritis, heart conditions, allergies, stress and sleeplessness and a host of other common complaints.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic health bible, 3 Aug 2001
By A Customer
I have picked up this book and referenced it loads of times for my own and friends and family's health problems. It's so good to find out what can help relieve a migraine or insect bites for example and Hazel gives advice not only on diet, but also on supplements and handy tips regarding each condition listed. If you care about your health and that of your loved ones I advise you to get this book immediately!

5.0 out of 5 stars An entertaining read and some fascinating facts, 21 Mar 2001
By A Customer
Far from being just another book about health scares and diet fads, this was actually interesting and it didn't make me feel like the only person in the world who likes chocolate and the occasional burger. Much of the advice is simply common sense, (but I for one don't always apply common sense to my eating habits) but some of the little hints are fascinating - did you know that lettuce makes you sleep? I loved the fact that Hazel Courteney acknowledges that not everyone has the time or energy to get all their nutrients from meals, and suggests supplements to help with certain health problems. The A-Z format was easy to use, and amazingly, I have even found myself stopping in the supermarket to think about what I'm buying. This actually made me feel I could improve my eating habits without completely re-arranging my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Health Book, 21 Jul 2008
By Julie Munro "Julie Munro" (St. Albans, Hertfordshire) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I am a nutrition student and I can tell you that this is a great book that has been invaluable resource for my course. If the author was to reference everything that is then this book would be very large. There are "500 tips" - the book never claimed to cure. The reason why it is great is because everything that is recommended are remedies and supplements that have been tried and tested by many people and is easy to follow for everyone - students and the general public alike. It is one of the books I turn to the most which gives all the suggested remedies and advice in an easy to read format. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone who is interested in how to tackle the many different health problems, they do work - just try them!
