4.0 out of 5 stars The Fuzzy Felt Moomins, 19 Sep 2004
As a childhood fan of the puppet moomins TV series, it is great to find a chapter devoted to the series in Simon Sheridan's classic new book. Written with a great deal of depth and knowledge, the book is witty and a pleasure to read. The moomin section is very detailed, covering the series roots in Poland and the English adaptation. With the release of the Moomins on DVD in Germany, this book is the perfect companion to go with it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Encyclopedia of Kids' TV Classics, 10 Oct 2004
By A Customer
Simon Sheridan's A-Z selection of his favourite children's television programmes is a splendid piece of research, perfectly capturing the era's sights and sounds. Sheridan's interviews with the key programme makers and stars, including Brian Cosgrove (Danger Mouse) and Jane Tucker (Rainbow), are wonderfully recounted. And Sheridan's extremely well written tome contains the right mix of entertaining tales with a passion and respect for, and knowledge of, the subject. This book is a must for every discerning and nostalgic thirtysomething - thoroughly recommended!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not an A-Z, 4 Oct 2007
By Dianne Goacher - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this book thinking I was going to receive an A to Z of classic children's TV shows. Admittedly Simon Sheridan has placed his choice of favourite shows (mainly from the 1970's) into alphabetical order, but I expected more shows to be covered than were actually in the book. The introduction is more of a potted biography of the author and does mention several classic programmes which should have been mentioned in greater detail in the main body of the book. The 67 entries (69 if you consider Camberwick Green, Trumpton and Chigley come under one heading) do mention other programmes within their sections but again it is not a true A to Z and so I was very disappointed.
