Elkhounds only!, 9 May 2004
This book delivers on its title as it gives lots of breed specific information. Some of the other book series available on different breeds tend to have some breed specific info, then they just copy great sections of generic advice about dogs into every book they produce.I had already 90% decided this type of dog was the one I wanted, but I bought the book to get a more detailed look at the training requirements and important characteristics of this little known (in the UK) but very well established breed. The advice is broken up into bite size pieces and there are small boxes containing useful tips and tricks. The book is published in England for the British market and so is not full of American specific terminology and Kennel Club stats. The overall presentation makes this book informative and easy to read, and there are loads of pictures of Elkhounds of all ages. Having now had the pleasure of meeting several Elkhounds and their owners I can vouch for the accuracy of the advice the book contains. I recommend this book to anyone who has an Elkhound or to those who, like me, want to know a little bit more before making that decision to buy one.
