5.0 out of 5 stars Read this and you'll want to read more., 25 Nov 2001
By A Customer
This is such a good book. I was sceptical when I first read it, expecting some kind of romantic warn novel that mentions fighting about twice between the sappiness. I was wrong. It may be written for teenagers but this is a very moving book told from the perspectives of 17 year old twins Jack and Alice who are both in France during the 1914-1918 war, Jack as a soldier and Alice as a VAD nurse. It's grittily realistic and doesn't skip around any nastier details, although it isn't overly gory or gruesome.
There are another 5 books in the series which consists of two trilogies. The first deals with Alice, Jack and people who they meet in wartime and the second is about Alice's Daughter, Grandaughter and great grandaughter. A warning, read 'Some other War' and you will almost definately want to read the rest.
