Book Description
Loch Lomond, at 70 square kilometres, is the largest natural area of freshwater in the British Isles. Looked over by the majestic Ben Lomond, it is arguably the most beautiful loch in Scotland. Having been immortalised in song, it is certainly the best known.
Loch Lomond is steeped in Scotland's history. From the earliest artificial islands or crannogs, through the affairs of the Dukes of Lennox, the Colquhouns of Luss, the McFarlanes, the MacGregors, the Buchanans and the Dukes of Montrose, life around the loch is Scotland in microcosm.
In modern times Loch Lomond is a major visitor attraction and is the centre of a new National Park. The wildlife, the beauty, the water and the fresh air are a magnet for thousands every year.
