The book is fully illustrated with more than 40 photographs and cartoons, and he speaks candidly about important national events in his personal life and political career. He puts on record his account of the coalition talks with Edward Heath in 1974 and describes the debilitating effects of Parkinson's Disease from which he now suffers.

About the Author

Educated at Oxford, he qualified as a barrister before becoming the Liberal Member of Parliament for North Devon in the 1959 General Election. Liberal fortunes revived and he led the Party to its best-ever election result in February 1974. He resigned as Party Leader in 1976. In 1979 he was tried at the Old Bailey for conspiracy to murder and cleared of all charges. He lives with his wife Marion in London and North Devon.
