This is not a must-have book, but one that is pleasantly rewarding. The author writes competently and with sufficient ability to keep the reader turning the pages of her diary, although without any great passion. The book's worth is in the reader being able to take a peek at a world that no longer exists and, in particular, at the thoughts and actions of a woman who was unusually independent and adventurous for her time.
