I've bought all three editions of this masterpiece. Each one improves on its successor, and given that I thought the first was magnificent you can probably guess how good I think the third is. As well as the pithy, concise biographies, extensive historical information and driver photos there's now a selection of action shots of the drivers; this marvellous new edition book is physically larger than its predecessors (so some of the photos look particularly good), hardbound, better typeset and on much better paper. An absolute bargain for any F1 enthusiast.

Steve Small's thorough research into the real obscurities continues -- his quest to find pictures of (and more information about) everyone who's ever started a Grand Prix continues. This is as close as you'll ever get to a definitive compendium of information on post-War Grand Prix drivers; add it to the 1970s "Encyclopedia of Motor Sport" for a truly complete reference.

This updated edition of Small's book has absolutely complete data on the F1 careers of every driver (including those that did not qualify for a GP) that entered in the World Championship since 1950. Also there is a photograph of almost every driver. The book is a must for any F1 fan and you can go through it many, many times and you will always enjoy it.
