Alastair Sawday has found some real treasures in out of the way places. The entries are clear, with nicely drawn characters and descriptions, and an insight into local attractions. Having sampled half a dozen of his "special places" on a recent trip, we are encouraged to try more! Some were real gems, others less so. The bonus of this guide is that you do find comparatively undiscovered inns tucked away in the sort of amazing countryside tourists often miss. That, and the empty roads where driving compares to Britain in the '50s, encourage you to stay off the autovia and discover more hidden treasures. The book could be sub-titled LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! We look forward to further exploration.

This book is the most useful book I have ever read - it allows you to see the 'real' Spain in a way that travel guides never will.

I will never travel again without a Sawday guide!

Guy Hunter-Watts has done a fantastic job - and is wonderfully descriptive and a pleasure to read. A Big Thank You!

This takes you out of the lager lout "costa concreta" and offers you the chance to visit the real Spain just around the corner from package deals. Very well researched, looking forward to checking into as many entries as possible myself! Indispensable to the independent traveller.
