Product Description

Review

"'A fascinating double-take on the experience of being fathered and then becoming a father yourself - eight short tales full of wit, pathos and insight.' - Blake Morrison 'This collection of meditations on the nature of fatherhood by writers unafraid to explore their true emotions is a must-read for anyone interested in the strange mysteries of the human heart.' - Joolz Denby 'Brilliantly written and incredibly moving.' - The Western Mail"

Product Description

When four men took to the road to talk about their relationship with their fathers, they were unprepared for the level of emotional engagement that poured from the audience. Hearing stories about fathers had uncovered a deep seam of hidden feelings and forgotten memories, suggesting that there is perhaps no man with more significance in our life than our own father. Here, four sons reveal the bonds that exist between themselves and their very different fathers; they then turn the tables and consider their own roles as fathers and father figures. These tender and heart warming tales mix memoir with fiction and provide a perfect backdrop to reflect on this most important relationship. "Four Fathers" features stories from Ray French, James Nash, Tom Palmer and John Siddique.

5.0 out of 5 stars Did you have a father? Read this book!, 6 Feb 2007
By David Pearce (Newcastle) - See all my reviews
This book really made me sit up and think about my dad. He was alright. You tend to remember the bad things: the teenage stuff, the reasons to be angry. But this book made me think what would it be like if he died and I didn;t talk to him. There's some real love in here. So I'm going to see him on Sunday for the first time in 5 years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sincere exploration of a very powerful relationship, 24 Aug 2006
By Mrs. H. M. Eastwood "Real writing fan" (Uppermill, Saddleworth United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Having read the pamphlet published last year to promote their first tour, I knew what to expect from these four very talented writers. I wasn't disappointed! All the eight stories examine the emotive topics of being fathered and being a father and in doing so they expose the vulnerability and strengths of each of the writers. While each of the tales is moving, the delivery is so powerful that you are left with raw emotion rather than a sweet taste in your mouth.

My advice - buy the book and then see them live!
