5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent tool For Any Enthusiast at Any Level, 12 Jan 2002
By A Customer
I had heard about this book at car shows and the race track. While it was often referred to as a companion to David Vizard's "Tuning The BL A-Series Engine", Stapleton's work stands tall on its own. The book covers many areas, from economy to performance, to drivetrain modifications. Stapleton's writings on the Weber carburettor proved invaluable, particularly his description of proper air intake improvements.
While many power tuning books are geared towards track performance, it is clear that Stapleton must use a Sprite/Midget on a daily basis, as many of the modifications are effective, economical modifications that improve the Spridget experience on almost every level.

The book is clear and usable to readers at all levels of skill. In all, an excellent additon to any enthusiast's library.

This book is a MUST have for the performance minded driver. It covers all older mods and offers some new modern tricks and ideas to bring your aging Sprite or Midget into the twenty first century. It was very easy to read and follow.
It makes a nice modern addition to any Spridget library.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fresh look at an old mark., 24 Dec 2001
By A Customer
This is not really an in depth "tuning manual" per say, and on this topic I would direct the reader to David Vizard's "Tuning the A-Series Engine" and Philip H. Smith's "The Design and Tuing of Competition Engines" (sadly, the later is out of print).

None the less, Daniel provides an excellent overview of modifications being applied to these vintage vehicles in an effort to not only increase performance, but to make them more road worthy, much safer, and more comfortable in these modern times. In addition, the book provides a compendium of contempoary tuners and part suppliers that specialize in improving these vehicles.

I found the sections dealing with engine and drivetrain swaps most intriguing, as there appear to be many options that I was not
previously aware of prior to reading this book.

For these reasons (and many more) this book deserves a place on any Spridget enthusiast bookshelf..

1.0 out of 5 stars Disjointed and uninformitive susposed guide to tuning a mg.
Very dissapointed by this book. It boasts that it has everything a novice needs to know. I'm a complete novice when it comes to tuning, and this book taught me nothing. Read more
