4.0 out of 5 stars A useful book, with more specific info than some others, 8 Nov 2001
This is a far from perfect book, but it's easily the best on the topic that I've read so far. The main thing that makes this book stands out is that it actually tells you specific information on most topics, rather than general statements that could apply in just about all other western European countries as well.

There's a bit too much personal anecdote from time to time, but this is a genuinely useful book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best, most factual book on the subject I've come across, 15 April 2000
By A Customer
As a relative newcomer to having a house in France, I've found this book the most useful one of its kind I've come across (so far anyway ...)

Unlike some others it doesn't trade much in generalities, and instead is factual with a fair amount of detailed information on things innocents like me need to know (e.g. how to buy/tax a French car)

4.0 out of 5 stars Well thumbed pages !, 21 Jul 2002
This is a very useful book that gives the reader loads of information at their finger tips. I wouldn't recommend that it is read from front to back but do as we did and pick out certain areas as they interest you. We are on the verge of buying a property in France and we have found this little book invaluable. I won't be selling this one on as the pages are too well thumbed already!!
