4.0 out of 5 stars A book that you will enjoy!, 10 Oct 2000
By A Customer
The underlying theme of this book, that of a monstrous being which due to a bestowed immortality cannot be destroyed, is not unique. However, this fact becomes quite irrelevant as the character of Mercer is created in such a skillful way by the author Mr. Cork that the reader's attention is completely focused on the storyline and is thus diverted from drawing any parallel comparisons with other works. Creating convincing continuity in character and story development while incorporating the ingredients of fascination, surprise, tension and anticipation requires a considerable amount of imagination and hard work. The author seems to be endowed with a capacity for both. The writing style is snappy and punchy, using short meaningful sentences and a fast-moving dialogue. The usual padding that is found in other suspense books is minimized.

Some might criticize this work as being too far from the mainstream but if you can open your mind and let your imagination take over then this is a book that you're going to enjoy.
