3.0 out of 5 stars Brief notes on Psychiatry, 23 Jun 2001
By A Customer
I found this book fell between too many categories to be truly useful. It provides brief notes on most of the mental disorders but is in no way comparable to other similar books such as Katona's Psychiatry at a glance, which provides more information and is more user friendly. I presume it is aimed at a similar market, but whilst Katona's book is brief but with enough information for medical students and GPs to find useful, I feel people relying on this book alone would come unstuck. Similarly it is insufficient to join books such as those by Puri and Bird which function as crammers for the MRCPsych examinations. The book needs to be more informative as the reductionism which led to this book being written has gone too far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moving Account, 30 Oct 2009

(REAL NAME)
A gem of a book that clearly illustrates the varying psychiatric illnesses and the application of prescibed medicine. I recommend this little book to people who have been through mental distress and their carers. It is written and presented in a format that makes it clearly accessible, and provides insight into hospital admittance procedures.
