Product Description

WARNING: THIS BOOK WILL SERIOUSLY IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH. This is the perfect little aid for the more than 2 million people in Britain who are trying to stop smoking at any one time. For roughly the price of a packet of fags, this book will give the smoker all the moral support and encouragement he/she needs to give up the lethal habit. There is a piece of robust (and life-saving) advice on every page: "Did you enjoy your first cigarette? Do you know anyone who did? Exactly. Your body's initial reaction to smoking is the true one. Listen to your body."

From the Publisher

The publisher, Metro Books
WARNING: This book will seriously improve your health
'Did you enjoy your first cigarette? Do you know anyone who did? Exactly. Your body's initial reaction to smoking is the true one. Trust it.'

'Look at an ashtray. Imagine the contents of that inside the tender tissues of your own lungs. Do you still want to light up?'

'Grab the keys and run. Smoking is like a lifetime in jail, chained to a habit you hate and fear. Imagine someone has just given you the keys to your cell. What are you waiting for?'

You may wonder why the world needs another book about not smoking, everybody knows the risks associated with smoking: lung cancer, heart disease and premature ageing to name a few.

"I realised that my desire to live as long as possible was stronger than I'd previously thought when something happened which changed my blasé view of smoking profoundly. A close friend of mine, in his late thirties, began suffering severe chest pains and was diagnosed with 'small cell lung tumours' the most virulent and inoperable form of lung cancer. Despite radical surgery and aggressive chemotherapy and radiotherapy, he died in a hospital bed days short of his fortieth birthday. At the age of thirty two, I realised I was only a few years younger than he had been when he developed cancer." Neil Casey

If you are serious about stopping, carry this book with you wherever you go. Whenever you feel a sudden craving for a cigarette (or cigar, pipe, etc) open the book and read as many pages as you need to help you kill the craving.

This little book contains over one hundred 'bite-sized' pieces of non-smoking wisdom, some in the form of statements, some in the form of questions.

It makes a pleasnat change not to feel patronised by the author. As the say, there's nothing worse than an ex-smoker. Niel Casey's demeanour throughout is one of friendliness and understanding, rather than being sanctimonious.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, what a help this book has been., 9 Feb 2000

The little book of not smoking. I've been thinking about giving up for months & have browsed a few of the recommended 'GIVE UP QUICK' books, but a friend gave me a copy of this book. Small & concise it may be, the 'real' view of smoking by a real smoker, has helped me greatly. I'm now down to a couple a day & take the book with me everywhere I go. If recommended only one 'non smoking' book, then this would be it. Essential for any smoker.

5.0 out of 5 stars All smokers should read it, 12 Feb 2002

I read it 6 years ago and haven't smoked since. My desire for a cigarette disappeared like, well like a puff of smoke. The book shows you how we were are fooled into smoking, and being duped really makes you determined to quit.
