4.0 out of 5 stars An in-depth study of the 'video nasty' phenomenon, 10 Oct 2000
By A Customer
An excellent and in-depth documentation of the advent of home video in the UK, covering (mostly) the media-fuelled out-cry concerning violent movies (christened 'Video Nasties'.)Included are;in depth reviews of all titles on the DPP hit-list, the introduction of the Video Recordings Act to remove uncertificated movies from sale and articles concerning the post VRA 'black-market' for the outlawed films. A worthwhile read.... recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars The ban was worth the book, 28 May 2003
This is an excellant account of the banning of 'video nasties'. It both gives information on all the films on the ddp list and also presents an indepth look at why they were banned including many of the so called copycat attacks inspired by these films.

5.0 out of 5 stars Disturbing!, 19 Dec 2000
By A Customer
I'm a big fan of horror and find video nasties intriguing right down to the gory blood spilling detail. This book has a fascinating but moving insight and will reveal the most hidden secrets from the censorship which they did not want you to know about! Highly rated.
