Product Description

Book Description

The theory and practice of steering, handling and roadholding and their inter-relationship explained in understandable language by a renowned technical author and car- tester.

From the Author

A lot of people 'know' about car chassis design, though they may be hard put to define exactly what constitutes the chassis. They also 'know' about handling, though their conversation quickly reveals a confusion between handling, steering and roadholding. In both cases their confusion is understandable. My aim with this book is to remove that confusion.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great introduction to the field of car suspension, 6 Dec 2000
By A Customer
A clear, well thought out introduction to car handling, roadholding and suspension by someone who knows the field. Written in a lucid (if occasionally long winded) style, the author leads the reader through the theory, practice and compromises of car suspension design, with plenty of examples. Logically arranged with clear illustrations, there are chapters dedicated to tyres, steering, handling, front drive cars, rear drive cars, and future developments, giving the reader a good all round knowledge. The only disappointment was the total absence of formulae and equations. Why do publishers insist on banning equations? Put them all in an appendix, for the readers who want or need them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the knowledgeable driver, 28 Jan 2005
By Simon Thorpe (San Francisco) - See all my reviews

I needed a book which was not dumbed down at all. Something that offered good progressive descriptions of how the basics worked with insight into advanced areas of suspension design. This book does exactly that. Well written explainations in an involving style. I would recommend this book to anyone who needs to make changes to an existing setup.

All I now need to do is apply this knowledge to setting up a drift car :)
