Duncan McColl's book is excellent; concise, clear,and designed to achieve results quickly by circumventing outdated therapeutic conventions. As a stand alone text it provides excellent scripts for experienced and neophyte therapists, cutting through unnecessary procedures and empowering the client to facilitate fast and lasting change on their own terms.

"Precision Therapy" is probably a useful resource for experienced professional hypnotherapists but it is a difficult book to like. There is no theme or narrative tying it all together; instead we have a disparate collection of resources. Firstly the book contains nearly 60 short hypnotherapy scripts for dealing with specific issues - but there are almost no guidance notes to go with them. Next we have a collection of short case studies illustrating suitable approaches for client problems. Then there is a sort of question and answer session for hypnotherapists; followed by a section of unstructured comments on Luscher testing. Then there is some discussion of the therapy audio tapes that Mr McColl's company offers. Finally the book closes with some miscellaneous comments on topics related to hypnotherapy (actually fairly interesting). I don't want to be too "down" on the book - there are nuggets of interesting stuff here - but it's all rather disjointed. It is less a book than a collection of random jottings. The information here could well be of use to the experienced professional hypnotherapist who doesn't need "how to" guidance but rather is looking for different angles and approaches to client issues. But it is a book that has little to offer the beginner.
