4.0 out of 5 stars invaluable for the beginner, 21 April 2003
By Gavin Roberts (Stowmarket, Suffolk) - See all my reviews
If you are just starting out in hypnotherapy this book is a must. There are scripts for a wide range of problems, from stress, weight loss, smoking cessation, depression etc. The sections I found most useful were the scripts on regression, including past-lives, 'parts therapy' and NLP techniques like reframing and anchoring, which are now commonly used by successful hypnotherapists. There are also some good 'deepeners' to help get your clients down into a good workable level of trance.
You might have to ammend some of the scripts to suit your clients but, if you are not at the stage when you can ad-lib scripts, Erickson-style, and prefer to be prepared with an outline to follow, this is the book for you.

2.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced and overhyped, 13 Mar 2001
By A Customer
I was really disappointed with this book. There are about 2 or 3 creative scripts to use with clients, but I found most of them to be in great need of editing and rewriting before they could really be used. So much of the language that he uses sounds so archaic - as though he were writing in the 1920's. Also, I think that for a paperback of only 162 pages, this is overpriced. Take my advice - trust yourself and write your own scripts ; they'll work much better for you and your clients.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Starting Book, 26 Jun 2001
By A Customer
This book is perfect to start in hypnotherapy. First go on a hands on course, then buy this book. You may need to alter some scripts, but by then you will know how to. The knowledge behind the book is obvious, and i found, starting in hypnotherapy as I am, this book just keeps you heading in the right direction. Its not ground breaking, and certainly the professional with a few years under the belt, would find this boring, BUT its not for them. Its written in language you can understand, and no going of into to deep an discussion on them. They are simple and solid to start from. To sum up, for the professional with experience, stay away. For the person who has just finished and indepth course, get this book.
