Product Description

Book Description

Atrocity The underground legend of 1976, influenced by everything from Star Trek, Kung Fu and the Marquis de Sade, this classic trilogy tells of a bizarre universe populated with pre-teen dictators, huge twin-brained domestic lizards and growing biocomputers tended by martial arts-practising monks. Expect fanciful weapons, medieval jails, Albert Speer architecture, femmes fatales, orgies, orgasms and undefined monsters that suck up all life and logic. Now collected in one volume, this imaginative journey is nothing short of awesome.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unconventional Dark Journey, 14 Dec 2002
Mick Farren writes books that are dark, absorbing, a little crazy and always fresh.

I read a lot of fiction and often find that stories, characters and events have a 'been here before' feel. As an exaggerated example, imagine reading all of the Alistair Maclain or Douglas Reeman books back to back. They are always entertaining but seem to follow the same rules with predictable characters and endings.

Not so Mick Farren. Mick Farren's books don't follow any conventions at all. They are dark stories. The characters are generally selfish, have few morals and go places most of us couldn't imagine. The DNA Cowboys Trilogy is a perfect example.

The stories focus on three drifters moving from one warped and damaged community of the future to another. Nowhere is safe or friendly for very long. They escape from one twisted community to another living off their wits and curiosity with the goal of surviving and living life to the full.
Add to this a sadistic aristocratic villain and a Jedi like assassin following their own agenda and
you have one heck of an experience. The tales are violent, sexy, a little perverse and incredible. A bit like a modern Sinbad on acid meets Sam Pekinpah's Wild Bunch. Most important of all, the stories feel fresh. You never know what is going to happen next. This is total immersion alternative reality stuff that I think will appeal to adult readers who like original science fiction and fantasy or who are just looking for a new reading experience.

Mick Farren has been labelled the 'Dark Prince Of Science Fiction'. His books are unique and I think under appreciated. He navigates us through the origins of CyberPunk long before anybody else. Books like the DNA Cowboys Trilogy, The Last Stand Of The DNA Cowboys ( not included in this trilogy ), Exit Funtopia, Necrom, The Song Of Phaid The Gambler and Vickers are all highly recommended!
