Book Description
The long awaited follow up to Smalltime Chris Small has been lying low for seven years, keeping his nose clean after a previous entanglement with the police.

Then one day he meets Edie, a waitress with a talent for playing blackjack. Thinking he might be on to a good thing, Chris agrees to become her playing partner, and together they hatch a plan to outwit London's casinos. But he doesn't know that a shadow from his past is looking for him - with the intention of maybe breaking a few limbs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too Small, 29 Aug 2003
Probably not as good as it thinks it is.
Its an easy, quick read but somehow you hope for more.
Focuses on ordinary Joe, Chris Small who looks like George Clooney and gets taken for 29 whereas he is 39.
He teams up with card-counter Edie and her American boyfriend Brad to try to beat Londons Casinos. The sub plot is a couple of heavies from his past trying to do him serious damage.
Brad gets killed by accident instead of Chris. Edie is devastated but Chris does not seem too bothered. Kind of puts you off the central character.
I feel that Leslie Thomas does this ordinary people stuff better. Yes, thats Leslie Thomas.
