Anyone who enjoyed the excellent film, Gentlemen's Relish' starring Billy Connolly and Sarah Lancashire, will adore this book, on which it was based. Full of delicious humour (much of which didn't make it to the screen) and beautifully written, Kingdon Swann really is a modern masterpiece. The basic story involves a distinguished Victorian painter - Kingdom Swann - who discovers the art of photography and sets about taking pictures recreating scenes from ancient myth. Little does he know that his assistant is selling the shots as pornography... Superb.
