4.0 out of 5 stars The most unusual mystery you will read this year, 23 Oct 2002
By Barry Swain "times reader" (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
What an extraordinary book! I bought this on a recent holiday in Britain, recognising the author from his various reviews in periodicals in Britain. I have often heard the phrase "can't put it down" but have rarely experienced it...but that is just what happened. The characters were alluringly shallow and tiresome, and one was presented with a piquant conflict: is one more horrified at their murders and manner of death, or more pleased that they are gone from this world! Astonishingly, this book is in turns funny, appalling, moving, wise and anti-social. The narrator is perfect: one is both attracted and repelled. The mystery of iniquity is perhaps the real subject of this book.

It only seemed like I had just started this novel when I discovered that I had I finished it. Extremely readable and entertaining, funny, and even moving. Clever, too. One of the most enjoyable novels I've read in a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality stuff, 25 Aug 2000
By A Customer
A truly excellent if somewhat shocking book, both funny and sad, highlighting the hedonistic and empty lives led by a group of 20/30-something Londoners before being 'bumped off' one by one in the most horrific of fashions by the main character of the novel! Highly recommended
