More than 20 photographers participated in the series including Ansel Adams, Man Ray, Cecil Beaton, Brassaï, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Andrés Kertész, Jacques-Henri Lartigue, George Rodger, and Robert Doisneau. This re-issue contains a previously unpublished interview with Henri Cartier-Bresson.

Eugene Smith, Laura Gilpin, Paul Strand, Imogen Cunningham, Wynn Bullock, Minor White, and Beaumont Newhall. This revised edition also contains a previously unpublished interview with Henri Cartier-Bresson.
