3.0 out of 5 stars Not a classic but a giggle all the same, 13 April 2001
By gunnerrab@btinternet.com (Plymouth, centre of the Universe, England) - See all my reviews
Joe Mitchell gives it his first attempt at pulp-fiction style writing and pulls it off with some style. Some parts a bit unbelievable, other bits on the mark, but nevertheless it is fiction and carries the author's license to do so. The things most adolescent's( and some adult's) dreams are made of, with sex, violence and general mischief to be found in one chapter or another.

2.0 out of 5 stars Weak, Wanna-Be Richard Allen, 6 Sep 2000
By A. Ross (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Yet another slim attempt to update the pulp fiction stylings of Richard Allen's "Skinhead" series, this is only slightly less clumsy than Gavin Anderson's weak "Casual" (also published by Low Life). Here, there's a small town skinhead hero, his small skinhead crew, a beautiful and willing new girl, the obligatory fight and sex scenes, and no development of any kind. If you want authentic pulp fiction, stick to the master: Richard Allen. If you want interesting fiction about football hooligans, stick to John King's impressive trilogy (The Football Factory, Headhunters, England Away) or Kevin Sampson's Awaydays.

5.0 out of 5 stars You must read this!, 12 Jan 2000
By A Customer
Another one of my fave footie books - and at £3.95 its too good to miss. This is the story of a skinhead gang who fight at football games which conjours up images of Richard Allen, but this is far better. The writing, storyline and characters are all more realistic and if this had been released last year instead of a good few years ago it would be massive. Loved it.
