A history of one of the RAF's foremost fighting squadrons. Formed in 1940, 249 saw action in the Battle of Britain before moving to Italy where it participated in fighter-bomber attacks with Spitfires and Mustangs. Postwar the squadron was based in the Middle East until it was disbanded in 1969.

From the first to the last mission of 249 sqd, you feel apart of the life of the pilots. The words from the pilots themselves and the back up of the RAF records bring home the bravery and at times just how close we came to defeat.
