5.0 out of 5 stars A classic rock read..., 22 May 1999
By A Customer
The Wonder Stuff, Ned's Atomic Dustbin and Pop Will Eat Itself - this is the original account of how these three bands came from nowhere to major rock prominence. A mould-breaking book in its day, it carried the torch of independence as fiercely as the bands it explores - and if you have more than three rock biographies on your bookshelf, this should be one of them!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for the hardcore fan, 18 Jun 2009
By Rebecca Collins - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
As a big fan of all 3 bands i found this book very frustrating. The Ned's and PWEI sections have been written with help with the band and these are ok but the wonder stuff section was written with no support from the band and how it shows. Many of the dates, tours and quotes are all out of sync.

The majority of quotes have been cribbed from music magazines and are not exclusive to the book. Which is a big let down.

The author is clearly a fan but his knowlegde of the bands is very limited and poorly researched. His over rating of the bands does get a bit annoying as all 3 bands had limited success both here and abroad but reading this book, the author would have you belive all 3 were the biggest bands ever to grace the planet.

This book has been released 3 times and you would have thought it would have been good to have re written the book to have more of a balance.

As this is the only book out there that celebrates the 3 bands, it is a shame this is your only option.
