Book Description
Moments of Glory captures all the fun, fanaticism and the facts about football in Reading through the stories of people who play, watch and help to run the local game. There are interviews with stars of today and yesterday, backroom workers, pressmen and referees, who tell their own stories, comic, exciting, eccentric, about the greatest sport of all.
Fully illustrated with original drawings and photographs. 160 pages.
From the Publisher
The book was produced by a core group of volunteers, supported by two part-time paid workers, who were involved in all key decisions from the first workshop when the topic of the book was chosen. They decided on the approach, contents, format, print run, publishing schedule, cover, and layout of the book. Training workshops were run to enable volunteers to tackle story-gathering, writing, editing, marketing and selling. Some of the group attended a series of workshops in book lay-out and design to enable them to help in producing the book in-house on screen. Other volunteers used specific skills for illustration, photography, typesetting and proof-reading. Volunteers were also involved in marketing, publicising (including giving interviews on radio and television) and selling the books to family and friends and distributing it to local bookshops.
