4.0 out of 5 stars From psychedelia to realism in four easy universes, 5 Jul 1999
By A Customer
Jerry Cornelius is a spy, a scientist, a rock star, a terrorist, a messiah, Harlequin... or is he? He may be just another dreamer in West London, the shiftless younger son of a rambling and vile family... Or is he another manifestation of the Eternal Champion? Where in the Multiverse is Jerry Cornelius and who is he? These four novels, dazzling in the range of textures and styles ranging from camp Sixties James Bond-ery to neo-Edwardian realism, analyse the complex relationship between urban man and the paranoia and delusions of the cities he creates. Somewhere on the hinterland between science fiction, satire, black comedy, thrillers, alternate-worlds history and soap opera, the Cornelius novels are almost unique.
