Whether you're a die-hard graphic novel fan or simply enjoy a good story this has something for you. It is fundamentally a story of life and the struggle to get by. The main character is Ernie Weiss, a man trying to escape from his own life, and being an escape artist he's got a pretty good chance at doing it. However, his life is tied up with his ex-girlfriend, his ageing mentor, a con-man and his daughter and most profoundly his own past. All makes for a melancholic tale of survival and identity. But don't worry, despite all it's pathos, the book doesn't leave one depressed, just thoughtful.
The art work is simple yet endearing and lends itself perfectly to the story that we see unfold.
This is a book that you really should read.
